We seek a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher with a strong background in social or cognitive psychology to join our diverse team of investigators dedicated to advancing group research. The Postdoctoral Associate will be part of a research team that engages in research that relates to group processes and collaborative creativity. The team will be using a combination of lab and field experiments and the data generated will enhance the knowledge of social, cognitive, and physiological aspects of virtual as well as face-to-face group performance. This team also collaborates with a team of machine learning experts to develop ways to facilitate performance in virtual teams. We seek a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher with a strong background in social or cognitive psychology and an interest to join a diverse team of investigators engaged in group research. This is a full-time position located on Tarleton's Fort Worth Campus and is a renewable twelve-month appointment with a maximum appointment of three years. This is a non-faculty research staff appointment. Must have the ability to work remotely at the request of the university in times of inclement weather or other special circumstances. Job Duties : Contribute to the scientific leadership of this project and will be primarily involved in implementing behavioral experiments and developing manuscripts for a variety of research questions. Assist Dr. Baruah in the design and execution of research related to collaborative creativity, productivity and management of diversity in virtual and/or face-to-face groups. Conduct experiments with groups and individuals to measure social and cognitive processes. Will also use physiological devices to measure individual performances in some contexts. Contribute to any component of the project depending on the area of expertise, though candidates that can contribute through their skill in social and cognitive psychology in a group context is preferred. Will have the opportunity to mentor graduate students and to develop independent side projects to address a variety of related questions, or to develop new techniques related to the project. Collaborates with a team of faculty in preparing grant proposals. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Experience in designing and conducting experiments. Ability to communicate by clear, concise, accurate oral and written means of expression. Ability to independently assess and implement laboratory methods and interpret results. A successful record of authorship on peer-reviewed publications and presentations. Ability to be proactive, highly organized, and responsible with a strong work ethic. Minimum Qualifications: PhD in experimental psychology with a focus on social psychology, cognitive psychology, or a closely related field from an accredited university. The successful candidate will have earned a PhD or equivalent research doctorate at the time of appointment (i.e., start date) The candidate must be able to communicate effectively in English and be trained in or able to obtain training in the responsible and ethical conduct of research. Experience with statistical software and quantitative data analysis, with a preference to experience in statistical programming (e.g., R, Python) is preferable. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in grant writing Strong record of publication and presentation Experience with performing physiological measures using devices such as EEG, fMRI or Empatica E4 wrist band. Experience in virtual reality experiments The successful candidate will have earned a PhD or equivalent research doctorate at the time of appointment (i.e., start date); will have received their doctoral degree no more than 4 years before the start of the financial support; and will be able to begin employment at Tarleton State University between January 2025 and September 1, 2025. If the degree has not been conferred at the time applicant applies for the postdoctoral scholar position, a letter needs to be attached from their school's official Registrar's Office certifying that all requirements for the degree have been met and stating the degree conferral date. The selected candidate for the position must be able to meet eligibility requirements for work in the United States at the time appointment is scheduled to begin and continue working legally for the proposed term of employment. Compensation & Benefits Salary: Commensurate with experience Salary Range: The annual salary is $60,000 based on funding availability in relation to the minimum requirements of this position.
