Position Overview

Avant-garde Health is seeking a Data Analyst to join our growing team. This position is ideal for a highly motivated professional with at least two years of relevant experience in data analytics, engineering, or healthcare informatics. The Data Analyst will design and maintain data pipelines, build predictive models, and contribute to the ongoing development of our TEAM product and CareMeasurement analytics platform. This role will work closely with clinicians, product leaders, and hospital partners to ensure data integrity, interpret results, and generate actionable insights that improve both clinical and financial performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and maintain ETL pipelines for importing and transforming claims and EHR data from CMS and partner hospitals.
  • Build interpretable predictive models , such as those used to estimate discharge disposition or episode spending.
  • Collaborate with clinicians and product leaders to implement data-driven features in our TEAM product.
  • Support monthly data refresh processes and continuous quality assurance across multiple client environments.
  • Contribute to early development of analytics for hospital onboarding, data validation, and risk adjustment workflows.
  • Perform in-depth analysis of complex healthcare datasets, extracting actionable insights and formulating recommendations.
  • Collaborate directly with health system leaders and clinicians to understand operational and financial objectives.
  • Develop detailed client-facing presentations and reports to communicate analytical findings clearly and effectively.
  • Provide ongoing client support, ensuring successful implementation and maximizing value derived from our software.
  • Actively contribute to internal initiatives that enhance product functionality and increase client satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • Strong Python skills , including experience with Pandas, NumPy, and SQL (we use MySQL).
  • Prior experience with healthcare data , such as Medicare claims (LDS, SAF) and/or EHR datasets.
  • Experience owning and maintaining data pipelines across multiple data sources.
  • Familiarity with explainable and clinically meaningful modeling approaches.
  • Minimum of two years of relevant professional experience in healthcare analytics, consulting, or administration.
  • Bachelors degree required; advanced degree in data science, healthcare management, business, or related discipline preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with proven ability to interpret complex data.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable presenting insights to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills, capable of managing multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with healthcare industry standards, operations, and quality metrics preferred.
  • Bonus: Experience with CMS payment models or risk adjustment frameworks such as HCC.
  • Proficiency with data visualization and analytics tools (e.g., Tableau, Excel) desirable.
